Our mission

Coalition for Livestock Guardian Dogs is a nonprofit organization organized and operated for the purposes of educating the public and spreading awareness of livestock guardian dogs (LGD) that are neglected and abandoned, advocating for improved management of LGD, educating the public on the vital role of LGD in providing non-lethal methods of predator management and encouraging support for implementing industry recommendations that protect the dogs, the public and the producer.

Although many abandoned livestock guardian dogs have gone on to become loyal and gentle family members and excellent therapy dogs, we advocate for the continued use of livestock guardian dogs as such. Whether they protect sheep on public lands or chickens in a homestead, they provide an invaluable service to the producers they serve and they thrive in a working environment. Their charges continue to evolve and their use can be seen in all parts of the world.

The coalition is the voice for the LGD in need throughout the country. We invite you to join us and be a voice for LGD in need.

We are a registered 501c3 nonprofit, EIN# 84-5047718.
